MSNBC Contributor Donny Deutsch Will Star in TV Sitcom

MSNBC contributor and ad executive Donny Deutsch is getting his own sitcom on the USA Network called Donny!, in the vein of semi-fictional programs like Curb Your Enthusiasm or Louie.

Deutsch has been a regular face on cable news for a quite a while now (in addition to being the chairman of Deutsch Inc.). He hosted The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch on CNBC from 2004 to 2008, appears regularly on Morning Joe, and co-hosted a short-lived CNN show called (Get to) The Point just two years ago.

Here’s how Deadline describes the conceit of Donny!:

Deutsch… hosts his own daytime talk show. Off-camera, he’s a filterless rogue who lives in contrast to almost everything he espouses publicly. Each episode finds him holding court as an expert on various issues (sexting, cellulite) on his show, yet reveals his personal struggle with similar subjects, especially when it comes to his ever-changing romantic partners or the drama of being a single dad.

Next up, NBC should get Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski to do a buddy comedy. Hey, it could be the next Community.
