MSNBC Posts Times Square Bomber’s Resume Online

It used to be that when someone committed a terrible crime, the only thing the general public would ever find out about them is that their neighbor’s thought they were “a really quiet guy.” In the age of the internet and social media, that is no longer the case. In the wake of the failed bombing of Times Square and the arrest of Faisal Shahzad, everything about the bomber has shown up online and analyzed. First there was his Facebook page, which made it everywhere from the Huffington Post to the Tonight Show and, now, MSNBC has posted his resumé online. The resumé is fascinating in the complete disconnect between a man who bragged of “seven years of diversified experience with Fortune 500 Companies” and the terrorist he became.

By reading through the three page long resumé, one finds it hard to believe that the man who wrote it hated the country whose ideals he seemed to embody. He was well educated, on the dean’s list, and seemed to be building an impressive career as a financial

“OBJECTIVE:To work in a high-energy and challenging business environment that will promote professional andpersonal growth while adding significant value to my employer.CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:More than seven years of diversified experience with Fortune 500 Companies in accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, accountability analysis, revenue forecasting, client coordination, operations’ planning, research, contracts’ monitoring, building valuable customer relationships, and client profitability analysis. Prepared high level management reports for executive decision-making. Excellent analytical, oral and communication skills, keen perception, good team player, and accomplished result-oriented employee.”

Does that sound like a terrorist? The amazing thing about the internet and its universal access to the private details of horrific criminals, is that it allows us to be just as shocked as those neighbors on TV used to be.
