Mulvaney on Health Care Fight: Washington Is ‘More Broken’ Than Trump Thought
Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney told Chuck Todd on Meet the Press today that the failure of the Republican Congress to pass the American Health Care Act shows, “Washington was a lot more broken than President Trump thought that it was.”
He said “the powers that be in Washington” won the day, saying that it wasn’t just the Freedom Caucus but also moderates who opposed the bill.
Mulvaney concluded, “This place was a lot more rotten than we thought that it was, and that I thought it was, because I’ve been here for six years. I know the Freedom Caucus. I helped found it. I never thought it would come to this.”
