New National Poll Shows James Comey’s Letter Had No Impact On Hillary’s Lead
According to a new weekly tracking poll from NBC News and Survey Monkey, the recent bombshell story surrounding the letter FBI director James Comey sent to Congress has had no impact on the race.
The results are virtually unchanged from the previous week, showing Hillary Clinton holding a seven-point lead in a head-to-head matchup with Donald Trump, 51% to 44%. When third-party candidates are included, Clinton leads by six, 47% to 41%.
When drilling down on the results of the poll after the Comey news hit, they show that absolutely nothing changed.
NBC/SurveyMonkey tracking shows no change before Comey and after
Monday thru Friday: HRC 47, Trump 41
Saturday thru Sunday: HRC 47, Trump 41

While this is just one poll, and it is only two days of polling results, it may show that the potential of the FBI story as a game-changing October surprise may be overstated. Another poll released by Politico and Morning Consult today also showed no change from their previous survey.
There are now just eight days left until Election Day, and with early voting already occurring in many states, millions of votes have been cast.
