Fox Business’ Rikki Ratliff posed the question to New Yorkers — “Who Said It? Clinton or Trump?” — and it turns out that Donald Trump is on the record saying a lot of things that resemble Clintonesque bromides, including:
“I believe in universal health care.”
“I hate the concept of guns.”
“It just seems like the economy does better under Democrats than Republicans.”
“When I started this quiz,” Ratliff said, “most people wrongly picked Hillary. But as the quiz went on they started to figure out it was Trump saying all these things that sounded like Hillary. Some were confused by that. Others were concerned. But some people didn’t even care.”
Indeed, Donald Trump’s history as a Clinton-friendly, “New York value”-espousing, universal health care loving, registered Democrat has been thoroughly aired by GOP rivals hoping to discredit him in the eyes of conservative voters. It hasn’t worked before.
But, who knows, maybe this quiz will show ’em?
