Nigel Farage: I’m ‘Absolutely Mortified’ by Steve Bannon Criticism
Nigel Farage — the leader of the Brexit movement and leader of the UK Independence Party — spoke out in defense of Steve Bannon, the alt-right provocateur who has come under heavy criticism since being tapped as Donald Trump‘s chief strategist.
In an interview which aired on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily on Thursday, Farage pushed back against the many people who have accused Bannon of having anti-Semitic views.
“I’ve been absolutely mortified in the last 72 hours to see a whole series of terms being used about Bannon, and then being picked up by other media commentators as being fact. And I do think there needs to be a serious fight-back on behalf of people that know Bannon.”
He added: “The idea that he’s Anti-Semitic is almost laughable.”
Farage also discussed his meeting with President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday, saying that he came away with a good feeling about Trump.
“I really do believe that he wants to try and make the lives of all the Americans better,” Farage said. “And I think he’s doing this Presidency for absolutely the right reasons.”
