Today, the National Rifle Association released a statement on the shooting in Dallas without actually mentioning rifles. People were more outraged, however, that they had yet to mention the death of Philando Castile, a black man who was licensed to carry the gun that led an police officer to shoot him as he sat in his car.
Finally, they’ve broken their silence on Castile and his death:

They called the circumstances surrounding Castile’s shooting, which took place in Minnesota, “troubling.” They also stated they will have “more to say” in the future, indicating they are aware of the criticism that followed their silence on the matter.
