The New York Post’s cover story on Tuesday is a gruesome one. On Monday, A Queens father trying to get home was pushed onto the tracks at a Times Square subway platform. He was quickly struck by an oncoming train and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. The incident was captured as it happened by a freelance photographer and those images were published in The Post.
The 58-year-old Ki Suk Han was said by witnesses to be engaged in a heated argument with an unidentified man who was “menacing” several subway riders waiting for the Q train on Monday afternoon.
Han was thrown onto the tracks just as the train was arriving into the station.
The Post’s freelance photographer, Umar Abbasi, was on the scene and quickly began snapping pictures of the incident. The Post said that Abbasi tried but was unable to assist Han so he “used the only resources available to him, and began rapidly flashing his camera to signal the train conductor to stop.”
