On Monday morning, President Obama‘s campaign tore into presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney, labeling him a “job destroyer” in a new attack ad focused on Romney’s record at Bain Capital and how he bought up GST Steel and shut it down.
The clip is set to run in several swing states — specifically Iowa, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Ohio, according to Talking Point Memo’s Pema Levy.
Cast in front of grey skies and rust belt ruins, the ad features the testimony of several former steelworkers from GST who lost their jobs. They each take turns criticizing Romney for shuttering the company.
“They made as much money off of it as they could. And they closed it down,” former steelworker Joe Soptic says in the ad. “We view Mitt Romney as a job destroyer,” another says bluntly.
