Obama Campaign Drops Donald Trump Attack Ad On Romney

The Obama campaign is going for the jugular in a scathing new campaign ad tearing into Donald Trump and his birtherism, released in conjunction with Mitt Romney‘s Trump fundraiser in Las Vegas.

The ad reminds viewers that Romney has stuck by Trump despite his doubling down that President Obama wasn’t born in the United States.

The ad features footage from the 2008 presidential campaign of Arizona Senator John McCain repudiating a woman who calls Obama an Arab. “No Ma’am,” McCain said. “He’s a decent, family man, citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with.” This is juxtaposed with Trump’s many media appearances espousing his birther conspiracy theories with a hillbilly soundtrack. The Hill’s Christian Heinze surmises “the implication, I’m guessing, is that birtherism is an ignorant, kooky theory that’s indulged by “Doomsday Preppers” you’d see on the National Geographic Channel.”
