Towards the end of his farewell address as the President of the United States, Barack Obama took some time to personally speak about and pay tribute to his wife, children and Vice-President.
He first mentioned First Lady Michelle Obama.
“Michelle LaVaughn Robinson, girl of the south side,” Obama exclaimed. He then took a few moments to compose himself as he got a bit emotional. With tears in his eyes, he said she had been not only his “wife and mother of my children, you have been my best friend.”
He then moved on to his children, Malia and Sasha, calling them “two amazing young women,” again showing tears while Malia also cried. (Sasha was noticeably absent.)
Mentioning “Delaware’s favorite son” Joe Biden, he said he “gained a brother.”
