‘Of Course He Should’: Charles Barkley Rips Trump For Breaking Presidential NCAA Bracket Tradition

Last month, we posted about President Donald Trump declining ESPN’s invitation to fill out an NCAA Tournament bracket, ending a recent presidential tradition.

Retired basketball great and TNT/CBS analyst Charles Barkley wishes Trump had gone ahead with it. “Of course he should,” Barkley said, when asked on Monday by TMZ Sports whether Trump should fill out a bracket.

“Every president has,” Barkley added. “He should do the bracket.”

Saying that every president has is a bit of an exaggeration. The tradition began in 2009, when President Barack Obama filled out his Tournament predictions for the record on ESPN.

Barkley spoke out on weightier Trump matters as well during his brief chat with TMZ. “The Muslim ban is awful,” Barkley said, referring to Trump’s proposed travel ban on seven Muslim-majority countries. “The immigration… deporting all these people is awful. These people are great people. I’m disappointed in the Muslim ban.”
