One Ohio woman caused quite a scare yesterday when she called the Columbus fire dispatcher and said she thinks her sister has Ebola because she has a fever and was recently in Africa. Police and the paramedics responded immediately, they followed protocol, wore hazmat suits, and prepared to carefully move her into isolation.
There’s just one problem.
Yep, this woman caused a huge panic over Ebola for no reason. Well, actually she had one reason: she wanted faster medical treatment for her family, according to authorities, and figured if she said her sister had Ebola it would get them taken care of faster.
Paramedics realized she was lying once they got to the hospital. Columbus Public Health’s Jose Rodriguez said, “We are trying to protect the community, and a hoax really wasted our resources.”
