One of the McDonnell Jurors Speaks Out: ‘It Was Not a Hard Decision’

One of the jurors who found former Governor Bob McDonnell guilty of corruption today spoke out in a candid interview with The Washington Post. She says, “It was a tough decision, but it was not a hard decision.”

She admits this was an “extremely emotional” case and a really difficult decision because of the decades of service McDonnell gave to Virginians. However, “when it came down to brass tacks, we knew the decision we had to make.”

Maureen McDonnell, the governor’s wife, was not found guilty on all the same charges as her husband because, the anonymous juror explains, there was no evidence she was just as involved.

When he was indicted, McDonnell reacted by saying he’s been “falsely and wrongfully accused.” Today, all he had to say about his conviction was “All I can say is my trust belongs in the Lord.”
