People Are Freaking Out Over This Instagram Picture of Caitlyn Jenner and Steven Tyler
Aerosmith’s 1987 classic “Dude (Looks Like a Lady)” came to life on Instagram yesterday, and social media is not handling it well.
Caitlyn Jenner, previously known as Bruce Jenner before coming out in 2015 as a trans woman and having gender reassignment surgery, posted this photo yesterday alongside Steven Tyler, the lead singer of the rock band Aerosmith. Her caption said that her and Tyler were “working on our duet for Dude Looks Like a Lady. One of my favorite songs!”
The song, which goes exactly as the title would suggest, is not actually going to be redone by the two. Jenner intended the caption as a joke, but is taking some heat considering her past.
“Your portrayal of being there for the trans community is confusing due to your misogyny. This caption and song are poor choices to use as a symbol for the trans community. You are another white puppet flaunting their privilege in the guise of being a representative for the you generation and trans life,” one Instagram comment wrote.

Another said, “You ignorant twat, its people like you that make me fear transition. and you’re f–king trans yourself, do the community a favor and stop acting like you rep us. you are ruining us. GO AWAY!!!!”
Jenner continued her love for the song when she went on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday night and talked about how the song was her “theme song” that made her feel better in the difficult times before her transition. But that didn’t make her fans feel any better.
