‘People Are Scared to Death of his Presidency’: A Mournful Chris Matthews Tries to Process Trump’s Victory

screen-shot-2016-11-09-at-2-13-13-am-1-e1478675697324-650x452“What a strange event,” MSNBC’s Chris Matthews said in a soft, mournful tone as he tried to process the election of Donald J. Trump to the US Presidency.

“I think he’s aware of the current situation that people are scared to death of his presidency,” Matthews said.

Matthews reminded the MSNBC audience about a pre-election day promise that Trump made to the American electorate.

“Think about the commitments he made about jailing Hillary Clinton if he got elected,” Matthews said.

Pivoting, he quickly added, “But you heard none of that tonight in his victory speech.

“Let’s hope, um, that’s a good sign,” he said.
