Planned Parenthood Shooting Suspect Demands to Be His Own Lawyer in Courtroom Rant
The man who went into a Planned Parenthood facility in Colorado and opened fire went on another rant in court today demanding to be his own lawyer.
Robert Dear appeared in court again today and, according to The Denver Post, ranted about his court-appointed attorneys.
He ranted that he’s been poisoned in jail––telling the judge to test a sample of his hair for proof––and even went on a bizarre tirade about turning into a zombie, even mimicking what he would be like if he was a zombie.
Dear said that would happen to him if he was forcibly medicated, which he what he accused his own attorneys of wanting to do to him. He proclaimed, “I do not want them as my lawyers. I invoke my Constitutional right to defend myself.”
At one point, Dear brought up a comment by one of his attorneys calling him “incompetent,” and the judge cleared the court so that attorney, Daniel King, could speak with Dear in private.
By the end of the session, the judge ordered a competency evaluation for Dear.
During a previous court appearance, referring to Planned Parenthood, Dear cried, “I am a warrior for the babies.”
