President Obama Flying To Colorado Today To Visit With Victims And Families

President Obama is flying to Aurora, Colorado later today to meet with the wounded victims of the movie theater shooting early Friday and their families. The Miami Herald reports that the visit, announced late last night by White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer, will include the president meeting with state and local officials.

The president has been receiving regular updates on the shooting and police investigation from his homeland security advisor. The Hill notes that after a brief moment of unity, both the president and his opponent Mitt Romney will jump back into campaign mode this week.

[T]he candidates will be back at it Monday, with President Obama speaking to the national convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in Reno, Nev. and Mitt Romney holding a fundraiser in Irvine, Calif.

From there, the president will head to Oakland, Calif. for a fundraiser Monday night. On Tuesday, Obama will hold a fundraiser in Portland Ore., and on Wednesday, the president is expected to attend another fundraising reception at the New Orleans, La. House of Blues.
