Press Gives Josh Earnest Day Off in Exchange for ‘Death by Chocolate’ Cake from Obama

It’s Friday. It’s Halloween. It also happens to be four days before the midterm elections, but that didn’t stop the White House Press Corps from reportedly agreeing to give Press Secretary Josh Earnest a day off from the usual road press gaggle in exchange for a delicious-looking “Death by Chocolate” cake from President Barack Obama.

First, New York Times photographer Doug Mills took a photo of the president purchasing the cake from what appeared to be the Devil at a bakery in Providence, Rhode Island, where he was speaking on the economy today:

Later, CBS White House correspondent Mark Knoller revealed that Obama traded the cake to the media on Air Force One in exchange for them forgoing the scheduled press gaggle with Earnest:

Happy Halloween, America!
