Prince Harry Gets Tested for HIV on Facebook Live to Encourage Others to Test, Too

Facebook Live and similar streaming platforms are the way of the future. No, really. Instantaneous broadcasting capabilities are revolutionary. We know that because we were able to watch the aftermath of Jeronimo Yanez shooting Philando Castile is real time.

With great power comes great responsibility and all that, though, you know?

Prince Harry knows! He realized he could harness the power of streaming and do something good with it. He got tested for HIV on Facebook Live to encourage his followers to do the same and show how easy it is.

This is like an updated version of Katie Couric‘s infamous on-air colonoscopy. Both instances involved public figures using technology to advocate for their viewers’ health by doing something momentarily uncomfortable.

The Royal Family has been supporting health-related causes of all kinds for a long time now, too. Keep that in mind next time you see a royals headline, roll your eyes, and moan, “Ugh, this is news now? What do they even do?”
