As the violent anti-American protests continue this week in parts of North Africa and the Middle East, CNN reports that Sudanese protestors in Khartoum have descended upon the German embassy, pulling down the German flag and reportedly setting fire to at least part of the building.
No embassy personnel were believed to be inside as the building was set ablaze.
Video journalist Isma’il Kamal Kushkush also reported to CNN that the British embassy next door has also been subjected to protests, but have yet to experience a serious breach like the Germans.
The Associated Press reports that the anti-German embassy protest consists of several hundred people who have taken to burning cars and trash cans. Police have fired tear gas in response.
