Protests Continue in Madison over Shooting of Tony Robinson
Protests continued in Madison, Wisconsin today to speak out against the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Tony Robinson by a police officer. Several hundred Madison students staged class walk-outs today and filled the state Capitol in protest, while others set up a memorial for Robinson near the site where he was shot.
Robinson’s family spoke out earlier today about the shooting. Turin Carter, Robinson’s uncle, said the issue isn’t as simple as a racial one because Robinson is biracial. He said, “We don’t want to just stop at black lives matter… Tyrell is a mixture of everything. You can’t look at him and say he’s black.”
Officer Matt Kenny, the cop who shot Robinson, has been placed on administrative leave while the police department conducts its investigation.
