Rachel Roy: ‘There Is No Truth to the Rumors’ That I’m Bey and Jay’s ‘Becky’
Yesterday, everyone was talking about how Rachel Roy (not Rachael Ray, people!) might be Beyoncé‘s proverbial “Becky with the good hair.” Roy did herself absolutely no favors by posting an Instagram of herself with a caption that read, in part, “Good hair, don’t care.”
Predictably, Bey’s fans descended on the woman whose relationship with Jay Z has long been assumed to be that catalyst for the time Solange went after him in an elevator. Roy had to privatize her Instagram account and cancel public appearances.
Now, she has released a statement. Per People, she said this:
I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest. My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that. There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors.
She went on to address the online bullying she has been the recipient of since posting (and then deleting) the now-famous Instagram shot.
Do you believe her?
