Rand Paul: Another Romney Run Would Be ‘Definition of Insanity’

Sen. Rand Paul does not mince words when it comes to his fellow potential 2016 Republican presidential candidates.

In a Wednesday interview with the New Hampshire Journal, the senator bluntly reacted to news that the GOP’s failed 2012 presidential nominee Mitt Romney might give it another go in 2016:

When you do the same thing and expect a different result, it’s sort of what Einstein said, that the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result.

He added:

“A couple of months ago he said that he’d had his chance and it was time for somebody new. He was probably right when he said that. I think we do need somebody and something new,” Paul said. “We had a great 2014 but really a presidential election is a completely different election. Twice as many people vote and a lot of the people who vote in presidential elections seem to vote for the Democratic Party.”

This comes a day after Paul called Romney “yesterday’s news,” and a week after he lambasted another frontrunner, Jeb Bush, as a “big government Republican.”
