Reddit CEO Admits to Editing Comments Made By Pro-Donald Trump Users

redditReddit CEO Steve Huffman apologized Thursday and admitted that he had edited users’ comments which were critical of him.

Earlier this week,  Reddit banned one of its forums (called “subreddits”) dedicated to the “Pizzagate” conspiracy, the accusation that a Hillary Clinton ally runs a child pornography ring out of a Washington, D.C. pizza restaurant. Suffice it to say, there’s zero evidence that any conspiracy actually exists, but that didn’t stop hundreds of people from harassing the pizzeria owner based on the false story.

A number of users, predominantly from the pro-Donald Trump subreddit The_Donald criticized the decision. As an act of protest, thousands posted comments reading “F**k u/spez,” Huffman’s username. In retalitiation, Huffman edited the comments to replace his username with the username of The_Donald moderators, making it look like the users were attacking their own leaders.

When he was caught it the act, Huffman fessed up and apologized. “It’s been a long week here trying to unwind the r/pizzagate stuff. As much as we try to maintain a good relationship with you all, it does get old getting called a pedophile constantly.”

“As the CEO, I shouldn’t play such games, and it’s all fixed now. Our community team is pretty pissed at me, so I most assuredly won’t do this again,” he promised.
