Rep. Elijah Cummings: ‘There is an Air of Deception Going On’ with White House and Russia Investigation

Don’t hold back, Representative!

During an appearance on CNN’s New Day today, Elijah Cummings condemned the White House in some pretty serious ways.

“Whether you want to admit it or not — whether others want to admit it — there is an air of deception going on,” he explained. “I mean, all you got to do is look at what the president has been doing over and over again.”

He went on to criticize the ties that have seemingly been sprouting up between Russia and members of Donald Trump‘s administration, noting that Trump has been insisting those ties don’t even exist. Specifically, Cummings was referring to Mike Flynn, the former national security advisor who was ousted after his possible Russian connections came to light.

Cummings is asking House Oversight Committee chair Jason Chaffetz to subpoena the White House for documents related to Flynn. He was quick to tell Chris Cuomo this morning that so far, he’s gotten “radio silence” because “it appears that the Republicans just don’t want to subpoena one document from the White House.”

“We need those documents,” he said.
