Rep. Farenthold Blames Female Senators for Health Care Stalling, Wishes He Could Settle ‘Aaron Burr-Style’

Congressman Blake Farenthold (R- TX) singled out female senators in his party for criticism on health care not getting through the Senate, even invoking dueling at one point.

In audio flagged by The Texas Tribune, Farenthold told radio host Bob Jones that it’s “absolutely repugnant” Senate Republicans lack “the courage to do some of the things that every Republican in the Senate promised to do.”

He referred to “some female senators from the Northeast” and their opposition, presumably referring to senators like Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski, who have taken issue with proposed health care legislation.

“If it was a guy from South Texas,” he added, “I might ask him to step outside and settle this Aaron Burr-style.”
