Report: Jared Kushner Failed to Disclose Russia Ties Before Seeking Top Level Security Clearance
Presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner is facing more questions about his connections to Russia after reports that the real estate scion failed to disclose meetings with dozens of different foreign officials, including Russia’s ambassador to the United States, Sergey Kislyak.
According to The New York Times, Kushner made the omissions on forms required to receive top level security secrets and gain access to the most sensitive classified information of the U.S. government.
Mr. Kushner’s lawyer, Jamie Gorelick, called the matter an oversight, and said that his client would provide the government with supplemental information.
Nevertheless, the issue is only likely to complicate the larger investigation into illicit ties between Russia and the Trump campaign. Mr. Kushner is already expected to face questions from the Senate Intelligence Committee on that very issue. In addition to Kushner, Russia’s famously gabby ambassador has met with — and complicated — the lives of other senior Trump officials including Attorney General Jeff Sessions and former National Security Adviser Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn.
