Reporter Speaks After Spicer Dustup: White House is Frustrated Like ‘We’ve Never Seen Before’
Following a tense exchange between White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer and American Urban Radio Networks reporter April Ryan at Tuesday’s White House press briefing, Ryan spoke out about what she feels is an unprecedented time of frustration at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
In an interview with Brooke Baldwin on CNN, Ryan said she chalked Spicer’s terse reply to her questions up to tension in the White House.
“There is a frustration,” said Ryan. “There is something that we’ve never seen before at this White House.”
In the briefing, Ryan told Spicer, “you don’t look so happy,” mentioning the investigation into possible collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign. Spicer then launched into a lengthy tirade. (“At some point, April, you’re going to have to take no for an answer with respect to whether or not there was collusion,” Spicer said at one point.)
Ryan said she would not let heated confrontations with Spicer like the one that took place on Tuesday keep her from asking tough questions.
“I understand what Sean has to do, and I understand what I have to do.”
