Republican Senator Slams WH Omission of Jews in Holocaust Statement: ‘Historical Mistake’
A Republican senator denounced the White House’s statement on the Holocaust for omitting specific mentions of the Jewish people.
Whereas some may have thought the omission was an error that the administration might quickly apologize for, multiple White House staffers stood by the decision. Sean Spicer in particular was pretty up in arms about the backlash to the statement today, saying at one point, “The president went out of his way to recognize the Holocaust.”
Before Spicer spoke today, Senator Susan Collins tweeted this out:
The Administration's omission of the Jewish people in a Holocaust remembrance statement is an historical mistake.
