Good Morning America co-host Robin Roberts grew emotional after a segment about underground gay conversion camps. Though there is virtually universal consensus that the coercive practice does not work and can cause significant emotional harm, it persists.
The segment was the results of a year long investigation by ABC News.
“No one was more religious than my parents,” said Roberts. “I’m so grateful, especially after seeing this, how supportive they were of me as a gay woman and my family and friends and I’ll never forget my mother saying, ‘God loves you because of who He is not because of anything you do or don’t do.'”
“Essence of Christianity right there,” remarked George Stephanopoulos.
“Love is love,” said Roberts.
