After tensions escalated Thursday among Ukrainian military forces, pro-Russian separatists, and the Kremlin, Russia Today editor in chief Margarita Simonyan tweeted the ominous statement: “Ukraine R.I.P.”:

RT is a state-run news agency in Russia, though Simonyan doesn’t take kindly to suggestions that she takes her orders from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Five people were reportedly killed in a Ukrainian “counter-terrorism” operation earlier Thursday that retook some administrative buildings in Sloviansk; Russia has vowed to protect Russian nationalists in Ukraine from direct Ukrainian action, triggering what many observers fear would be a Russian invasion into eastern Ukraine.
