On his syndicated radio show Wednesday afternoon, conservative host Rush Limbaugh seemingly likened the debacle over the administration’s handling of the Libyan attacks to former President Bill Clinton‘s initial denial of extramarital affairs with intern Monica Lewinsky, and then explained that if the Obama administration was capable of “lying” about the Benghazi consulate attacks then it is not inconceivable that they would also lie about the September jobs report.
Several prominent conservatives including former G.E. CEO Jack Welch have accused the administration of manipulating the unemployment numbers to its lowest Obama-era level as a last-minute electoral ploy.
In addition, a Wednesday morning Congressional hearing on the September attacks on the American consulate in Libya confirmed that the violence had nothing to do with an anti-Islamic YouTube video, as President Barack Obama and his officials claimed for weeks.
With that news in mind, Limbaugh seemed to echo the “jobs trutherism” sentiment by implying the administration is capable of lying about both Libya and the jobs figures:
“If this administration will lie about something as important as the death of an American ambassador and three other Americans, why should we doubt that they might lie about the unemployment rate?”
