Rush Limbaugh shocked his radio audience Thursday morning when he declared that President Barack Obama’s speech to the nation about combatting ISIS last night sounded to him like something President Ronald Reagan could have delivered. The host made sure to say he meant it in terms of style, not substance. But still.
“This whole thing last night was political,” Limbaugh said, but to a “casual observer” the speech sounded like something Presidents Dwight Eisenhower or Ronald Reagan could have made. While he said he disagreed with the “content” of the speech, Limbaugh admitted that he was impressed by the “theatrics” of it.
“He didn’t even get close to making you think he was going to apologize for America,” Limbaugh said of Obama. “He didn’t get close to making you think he thinks we’re responsible for this… But he got practically every important point dead wrong.”
After offering this faint praise of the president, Limbaugh went on to call his strategy a “joke” that would be insufficient to take out the terrorist network and ultimately declared that “Obama gave us ISIS.”
