Sarah Sanders Kicks Off Press Briefing With Video of ‘Special Guest’ Trump Bragging About Accomplishments
At today’s White House press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders began the proceedings by playing a video message from President Donald Trump — in which he boasted about his accomplishments.
No, really, that happened.
With the White House currently playing defense and the president raging following the release of several bombshell excerpts from an upcoming tell-all book by Michael Wolff, it appeared that Trump decided that he’d use the briefing to brag about, well, himself.
Prior to playing Trump’s video statement, Sanders brought up that the Dow Jones Industrial Average topped 25,000 today for the first time in history, stating that it was a sign that the president’s agenda was paying off. We then got the following comments from POTUS:
“The historic tax cut I signed into law just two weeks ago before Christmas is already delivering major economic gains. Hundreds of thousands of Americans are seeing larger paychecks, bigger bonuses, and higher pension contribution and it’s all because of the tax cuts and tax reform. And I want to thank all of the companies that worked so hard to do it. Workers at AT&T, Bank of America, Comcast, Southwest Airlines, American Airlines, and many companies are receiving bonuses of $1,000 and more. Aflac are investing more in employees’ 401(k). CVS has announced they will hire 3,000 more workers. Boeing and other great companies are doing employee training. More than 60 companies have announced they are raising wages including many that have voluntarily raised their minimum wage to $15 per hour, and I mean they did that voluntarily. Which many politicians said could only be achieved by government mandate. Investing in the American workers, the most important investment a business will ever make. I want to thank all of these companies for putting their tax savings to the best possible use by creating more jobs and higher wages for the American family. These great results are just the beginning. When the dreams of the American people are unleashed, there is nothing, absolutely nothing we can’t achieve. We are going to make America great again, and it’s happening a lot faster than anyone thought possible. Thank you.
“Thank you, Mr. President,” Sanders said to the video screen after the tape ended.
A number of media figures immediately commented on Trump’s “sort of” appearance at the presser:

If the President wants to make an appearance in the briefing room in front of reporters he should walk in there. He’s down the hall.
