“Republican” Joe Scarborough is speaking out on behalf — Nancy Pelosi.
The House speaker is facing heat after Jon Ossoff’s defeat in Georgia’s special election. On Wednesday and Thursday, cable news outlets featured a parade of Democrats calling for her ouster as leader of the House Democratic caucus.
Scarborough, however, went to bat for Pelosi on Twitter saying that she was being served up as a “scapegoat” by activists and the real reason Democrats lose is because they don’t run candidates who fit their districts.
Setting Pelosi up as scapegoat does Democrats no good. Get a candidate that matches the district and you will win. https://t.co/1Z39AKI2JY

For close watchers of Morning Joe, it’s a familiar theme. Throughout the Georgia special election, the former Florida congressman voiced his misgivings about Ossoff and on several occasions suggested that he looked like an extra from the Warren Beatty film “Reds.”
During the race, Ossoff’s Republican challenger, Karen Handel, largely sidestepped Donald Trump, running a traditional GOP campaign. Part of that strategy involved a lot of ads tying Ossoff to Nancy Pelosi and other coastal house Democrats.
Ossoff’s defeat makes Democrats 0 for 4 in special elections since Donald Trump’s election and raises significant questions about those rosy predictions of taking back the House in 2018. Former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg said recently that internal divisions within the Democratic party could lead to a Trump reelection in 2020.
