In addition to the usual broadsides against President Trump, Morning Joe opened the show Monday with some special zingers for his cabinet.
Joe Scarborough in particular singled out Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and UN Ambassador Nikki Haley for derision.
The show played footage of Haley defending the firing of James Comey, noting that the president was the “CEO” of the United States.
Scarborough didn’t think much of that analogy.
“You have the Ambassador of the United Nations calling him the CEO of our country. Fundamentally ignorant, fundamentally ignorant of our constitutional republic and the constitution, system that’s been put in place,” said Scarborough with disdain.
The show also replayed footage of Tillerson on Meet the Press Sunday saying he was “devoted” to the president and executing his agenda.
“And Rex Tillerson cowering like he’s a caddy,” Scarborough derided. “Saying he’s ‘devoted’ to the president. I can’t even say caddy because most caddies will talk back to you.”
“Perhaps valet is the word you’re looking for?” offered a trollish John Heilemann.
“I don’t know what word I’m looking for but it’s sad and pathetic that the Secretary of State feels like he has to say that he’s ‘devoted’ to a president who is again, shredding democratic norms every day.”
As Comeygate enters week two — this website is confident the end is not in sight.
