Second Dallas Health Worker Tests Positive for Ebola

A second health care worker who was caring for Thomas Eric Duncan tested positive for ebola Tuesday night, the second case of ebola transmission on U.S. soil.

Nina Pahm, a nurse who had cared for Duncan at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, tested positive Saturday night; she is reported in stable condition.

The second health care worker reported a fever Tuesday night and was quickly isolated. Health officials are monitoring those in the worker’s circle, but say the group will be small, as less than twenty-four hours passed between when the worker became symptomatic and when they were isolated.

Duncan succumbed to the virus last week after traveling from the U.S. from Liberia. Several other cases have been successfully treated in the United States, though not at this Dallas hospital.
