This whole week, Seth Meyers and his Late Night team have been doing their shows from Washington DC, the site of the comedian’s legendary turn as White House Correspondents Dinner host in 2011 that skewered — and perhaps helped launch — Donald Trump‘s presidential ambitions.
On Thursday night’s show, Meyers and Co. aired a remote package that they shot exclusively at the Pentagon, where the host got to experience just how cool it feels to have a room full of people stand at attention when you walk in. Defense Secretary Ash Carter joined in on and fun, and the duo used the special phone-the-president hotline to prank call the Commander in Chief himself.
“Hey President Obama? It’s Seth, and I’m here with Ash,” Meyers says into the phone. “And we’re wondering if you want to annex Switzerland. So call us if you think that’s a good idea. If you don’t call, we’re probably just gonna go ahead with it.”
