House Speaker Paul Ryan was met by several hundred protestors Tuesday as he visited a New York City Charter School.
As he entered Success Academy 1, a charter school in Harlem, Ryan was showered with chants of “Shame!” He gave a quick wave to the protesters gathered behind him and entered the school. He also waved at them on his way out.
WNBC reports that the crowd also chanted “Health care for all, not just for Paul” and “Paul Ryan don’t care” at the House Speaker.
Though health care clearly seemed to be the focus of the protestors, Ryan stuck to matters involving education in a statement afterwards, according to Politico
“Today was special — touring Success Academy, listening to these great kids and their committed teachers, hearing their stories,” Ryan said. “The quality of teacher training and preparedness was extraordinary.”
