‘Shop and Frisk’: Sharpton Threatens Barneys Boycott Over Accusations of Racial Profiling

Earlier this week, it was reported that a black teenager was arrested back in April over a purchase he made at the department store Barneys and it’s led to Barneys being attacked for racial discrimination. Al Sharpton jumped on the news on Saturday and is threatening a boycott.

Two separate people have complained about being racially discriminated against in Barneys, and one of them filed a lawsuit. The always-fiery Sharpton suggested a boycott to take a stand against the department store.

“We’ve gone from stop and frisk to shop and frisk, and we are not going to take it,” Sharpton said on Saturday, adding that black New Yorkers “are not going to live in a town where our money is considered suspect and everyone else’s money is respected”.

Barneys has already hired an anti-discrimination expert to meet with Sharpton’s National Action Network, and the store has been consistently denied anyone has been racially discriminated against anyone at their stores.
