‘SHOW ME WHATCHA GOT!’: Reporter Pumps Herself Up When She Doesn’t Think Camera Is On

Screen Shot 2016-02-16 at 2.29.35 PMIt’s common for competitors to pump themselves up before heading into the field of battle. LeBron James listens to his Beats by Dre headphones, Wayne Gretzky famously ate four hot dogs before games, and WFSB’s Kim Lucey in Hartford, Connecticut apparently has her own method of getting in the zone.

Shortly after 5 a.m. on Monday morning, Lucey and her colleague Eric Parker of CBS-3 in Hartford cut to the field for a story on a fire at a nearby recycling plant. When the feed drops, the camera cuts back to Lucey in the studio, who can be seen confidently asserting on camera what is easily about to become the most overused phrase for the rest of the week here in the Mediaite offices:

SHOW ME WHATCHA GOT!

Some off-screen crew can be heard laughing at the gaffe. But, since Kim Lucey is a boss who just pumped herself up like the badass anchor she is, she expertly picks up where the broadcast left off, shifting her attention onto the next story with ease.
