‘Sh*tshow’: Political Twitter Flooded with Problems Arising From Nevada Caucuses
This headline’s use of the word “problems” is probably an understatement. Political Twitter pretty much blew up tonight over reports about alarming issues at Nevada caucus sites tonight.
Some precincts ran out of ballots, some weren’t checking IDs, there was this…
New: People registered for precinct 1303 in Sierra Vista showed up to caucus. There was literally no site set up.

…and this…
Man here says "it's a disaster." No one is checking in or checking IDs. They're handing out ballots willy nilly. Some guy voted trump twice

…and this…
Second woman says no one checked her ID. She was just handed a ballot. She says it's very scary. #Nevadacaucus pic.twitter.com/VqxrOianFj

…and this…
Updated quote from source: "40-50 loose ballots on table." Counter looked at them, put them under envelopes. Wouldn't budge when called out.
— Elaina Plott (@elainaplott) February 24, 2016
…and then there’s all the tweets about Trump supporters running things:
Says caucus volunteers are wearing Trump gear (they're not allowed to show preference). "Actively bullying folks. Not checking IDs."

@TeamMarcoNV just wrong that the guy collecting votes wears Trump shirt/hat! Did he change my vote? #NVforMarco pic.twitter.com/HqKXIYLpsb

Things have apparently gotten so bad a party official had to issue a statement:
GOP official on caucus insanity, reports of double voting. pic.twitter.com/CY6ACvLssM
— Jon Ralston (@RalstonReports) February 24, 2016
There’s only one way to possibly summarize all this:
Text from Rubio source in NV: "This is a shit show."
— Elaina Plott (@elainaplott) February 24, 2016
And on a completely unrelated note, while the caucusing was going on, Trump was warning of dirty tricks coming from the Ted Cruz campaign:
Make sure you get on the Trump line and are not mislead by the Cruz people. They are bad! BE CAREFUL.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 24, 2016
UPDATE –– 10:27 pm EST: The Nevada GOP wanted to make something clear on Twitter earlier:
There have been no official reports of voting irregularities or violations. #nvgopcaucus
— Nevada GOP (@NVGOP) February 24, 2016
UPDATE –– 10:55 pm EST: Oh, and this helpful clarification:
It's not against the rules for volunteers to wear candidate gear. Volunteers went through extensive training & are doing a great job
