A “free speech bus” modeled on a project from Spain was vandalized near the United Nations on Thursday due to the social conservative message printed on its side.

USA Today spotlighted the incident in a Thursday evening article. The report noted that “‘the ‘Free Speech Bus,’ as it is called by organizers, was parked … when two people approached, scratched it with a key, cracked windows with a hammer, and spray painted slogans such as ‘Trans Liberation.'”

The National Organization for Marriage, one of the groups that organized the bus’s tour, called on leaders of LGBT groups to condemn the vandalism in a Thursday post on Twitter:

However, more than a few Twitter commenters defended the criminal act — including the left-wing New York City Antifa group:

Earlier in March 2017, city officials in Madrid, Spain impounded a similar bus “in order to prevent a hate crime.”
