Steve Schmidt Delivers Scorching Trump Criticism: White House is ‘In a State of Meltdown’

Steve Schmidt, Sen. John McCain‘s campaign manager in 2012, has long made it clear that he’s no fan of President Donald Trump. This week, the Republcian strategist has driven home the point with several pointed critiques of the 45th president. And on Thursday, Schmidt ratcheted up his criticism even more.

Appearing on Deadline: White House, Schmidt completely went off on the current state of affairs at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

“This White House has been in a state of meltdown for some time,” Schmidt said. “And it seems that the events that are occurring last week, this week are just simply overwhelming it.”

Schmidt, in his many cable news appearances over the past year, has never been one to raise his voice — and indeed, he did not do so on Thursday. But his words were truly scathing, nonetheless.

“I don’t know what day it will be,” Schmidt said. “And I don’t know what hour in that day. But we’ll pay a price for that at some hour soon in this country.

“This is serious business. That’s a building where life and death decisions get made. And these people couldn’t be more outmatched in dealing with this stuff.”
