Stormy Daniels Ramps Up Legal Fight Against Trump, Accuses Michael Cohen of Defamation
BREAKING: Stormy Daniels sues President Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen for defamation.
— MSNBC (@MSNBC) March 26, 2018
A day after 60 Minutes aired the highly anticipated Stormy Daniels interview, the adult film actress amended her lawsuit against President Donald Trump over the non-disclosure agreement she signed in 2016. Besides claiming that the NDA is invalid because Trump didn’t sign it, she’s now accusing Trump attorney Michael Cohen of defamation for implying that she’s lied about having an affair with Trump.
Earlier this month, Daniels sued Trump and the LLC Cohen set up to deliver $130,000 of hush money to Daniels in return for her signing the NDA. Cohen later claimed that he had the right to go after Daniels for $20 million in damages for her breaking the agreement.
The amended complaint also states that the payment Daniels received in 2016 violated campaign finance laws surrounding donations.
Immediately after it was reported that the lawsuit had been amended, Daniels’ attorney Michael Avenatti appeared on MSNBC to explain the details of the new complaint, which can be seen above. He noted during his appearance that he may bring on a co-counsel to handle the election fraud portion of the complaint.
