Strange Twitter Hack Leads to Some Big News Sites Tweeting ‘f gwenifill’

Earlier today on Twitter, a number of prominent Twitter accounts tweeted out the same strange message: f gwenifill. It’s a very strange and very specific tweet, but lest you think everyone suddenly hates PBS anchor Gwen Ifill, worry not, because this was just a hack through one person’s Tweetdeck that ended up affecting all those accounts.

Some people managed to capture screenshots of all those accounts tweeting out the same exact thing.

A few people had some fun with the weird trend.

A few sites quickly took action, took down the tweet, and Newsweek even provided some context for the phrase that was tweeted out.

Eventually, someone came forward to explain she was the source of the hacking.

And to top the whole thing off, Ifill herself tweeted this out after everything was cleared up.
