Tammy Duckworth’s Senate Campaign Got Over 1000 Donations After Insensitive GOP Tweet
Yesterday, Democratic Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth was the victim of a political attack on Twitter. The National Republican Senatorial Committee tweeted that the veteran and amputee, who is wheelchair-bound, “has a sad record of not standing up for our veterans.” This was not the first time Duckworth was criticized or belittled for her service-related injuries.
The Congresswoman is running for Senate now. She and her campaign have announced that since the message was tweeted (and deleted) yesterday, they’ve gotten over 1000 donations, according to The Washington Examiner. They put it like this:
In the last day, more than one thousand supporters have chipped in to send Republicans a message that their shameful attacks aren’t working.
Neither the committee nor her opponent for the Senatorial seat, Mark Kirk, have apologized to Duckworth.
