Ted Cruz Fires Back at ‘Obnoxious’ Al Franken for Taking Shots at Him in Book

Finally, a spat between two Washington politicians that has nothing to do with President Trump.

Senator Al Franken has a new book coming out called Al Franken: Giant of the Senate, by Al Franken, and as we’ve learned this week, there is an entire chapter dedicated to his colleague Ted Cruz.

Franken said yesterday in an interview, “You have to understand that I like Ted Cruz probably more than my colleagues like Ted Cruz. And I hate Ted Cruz.”

And then there’s an already-released excerpt from Franken’s book in which he talks about Amy Klobuchar, his fellow Minnesota Democrat, running a joke she had about Cruz by the Texas Republican himself. This is what Franken says happened next:

Cruz responded to all this in an interview with Politico out today:

“Al is trying to sell books and apparently he’s decided that being obnoxious and insulting me is good for causing liberals to buy his books,” Cruz said in an interview. “I wish him all the best.”

Both Franken and Cruz sit on the Senate Judiciary Committee, and back in February Franken went off on Cruz during the Jeff Sessions confirmation process.
