On a day when Texas Senator Ted Cruz was hoping to focus on a strong showing at the polls in Utah and Arizona, he shifted his attention Tuesday morning to address the deadly attacks in Belgium that have claimed the lives of at least 30 people.
Cruz, who is currently polling second in the Republican nomination process to Donald Trump, took to his Facebook page to issue a strong statement in response, noting that the events are “just the latest in a string of coordinated attacks by radical Islamic terrorists.”
Cruz used the opportunity to criticize the foreign policy of President Barack Obama, noting that we are a nation at war with radicalized Islam, and that for “over seven years we have had a president who refuses to acknowledge this reality.”
We will name our enemy — radical Islamic terrorism. And we will defeat it. https://t.co/Z7YTgUg3AA

The Texas Senator looked ahead to the outcome of the Presidential election in his post as well, writing defiantly, “That ends on January 20, 2017, when I am sworn in as president.”
